After reading his paper presented at the North American Veterinary Conference in January of 2006 on “Neurons Made Easy”, it made sense to seek out Dr. Bertone for the Equine Neurology course.
His philosophy for teaching corresponds very well with ours. This is from his bio page at the university:
“Education needs to be exciting, engaging and interesting for the student as well as the faculty member. Education is no longer about handing out notes and lecturing; it\\\'s about giving students the tools to learn long after they leave veterinary school. Student centered learning is the key to life-long learning. Education is successful when all students know more than their teachers.”
Well said, wouldn’t you say? His biographical information reads like “been there, done that.” He has so much experience in a variety of fields. Here is just a small version of his accomplishments and positions. We could list the papers he has written but those would need their own site:
